Employer identification number, what is it?
What is an IRS EIN number?
An IRS EIN is a 9-digit number that is assigned by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and stands for the Employer Identification Number (EIN). It’s essentially the social security number of a business. The EIN helps the IRS identify the taxpayers of a business—who needs to file and when. You may apply for an EIN number online, via fax, or mail if your principal place of business or legal residence (in the case of an individual), is located in the United States or U.S. Territories.
Important:
You will need this number for different purposes like open a bank account for you new business, applying for a business loan
